SOULS-One of The Oldest Pop Bands in Bangladesh.


Souls-The pioneer band of Bangladesh.

It was estalished in 1970 in Chittagong, later moved to Dhaka.

History
Towards the end of 1972, Lulu left the band and Nakib Khan joined the band. Nakib Khan’s induction into the band was followed by Pilu Khan and Tapan Chowdhury.
In 1977 and 1978, Nasim Ali Khan and Ayub Bachchu also joined the band. Afterwards, they started writing and composing their own songs while performing cover songs of western bands in hotels. Formers members include Tapan Chowdhury, Ayub Bachchu, Nakib Khan, Naseem Ali and Partha Barua has performed more than 5,000 concerts.
In 1980, they released their debut album Super Souls, which was one of the first album to be released by a music group in Bangladesh, along with the debut album of the band Shoking Blue. The album features the song ``Mon Shudu Mon Chuyeche`` by Tapan Chowdhury. The Kumar Bishwajit song ``Torey Putuler Moto Kore Shajiye`` is a Souls track from their debut album. Abdullah-Al-Mamun wrote the lyrics of this song and ``Mukhorito Jibon``.
In 1982, Souls released their second album Colleger Corridorey. After the release of their seceond album, Nakib Khan and Pilu Khan left the band and formed the band Renaissance.
In 1988, they released their fourth album East and West, which had six English and six Bangla songs. Even though they started their career singing English songs, this is the first time they released them. The songs were all written and composed by the band.
In 1989, Souls released their fifth album E Emon Porichoy, which was Tapan’s last appearance in Souls. Afterwards, Tapan Chowdhury left the band to pursue a solo career. Tapan was replaced by Partho Barua as the lead singer. Afterwards, Ayub Bachchu left the band to form Little River Band, which was later renamed Love Runs Blind and is also known by its acronym, LRB. Then Souls released their sixth album Aj Din Katuk Gane,  in 1992, which features the songs ``Keno Ei Nisshongota`` and ``Bastota``.

After a hiatus  in 1997, they released their seventh album Oshomoyer Gaan which features the songs ``Oshomoyer Gaan``, ``Ami Ar Bhabbo Na`` and ``Oi Dure Neel``. In 2000, they released their first acoustic album, Mukhorito Jibon, it compiled some previously released songs, some remakes of old Indian Bangla songs, along with some newly releades songs. ``Sharadin Tomay Vebe``, ``Bashi Shune Ar``, and ``Mukhorito Jibon`` were some of the more widely played tracks from the album. In 2003 and 2004 respectively, Souls released their ninth and tenth albums Tarar Uthan and To-Let. To-Let was the last album that sound engineer Mobin worked on before his death. Their next album was Jhum Jhamela, which was released in 2006.
Their most recent album is Jam, which was released in 2011.
